I had an appointment last week to service a new customer's 5'6" grand piano. The reason I post this question is that I owned a 1911 5'6" Weber back in the 1990's and it was one of the best sounding pianos I have ever heard.ġ) Is this piano worth rebuilding? Are there any pitfalls to taking on this particular piano?Ģ) Do any of you have experience with owning and rebuilding old Weber grands?ģ) What do you think would be the resale vaule of a rebuilt piano like this? I am sure it will need a new pin block, strings, action, and maybe sound board and bridge. The piano looks to be in good original condition, but has about 4 cracks in the sound board. I have the opportunity to buy a 6 foot Weber grand from 1908 for under $500.

For resale, you might be able to recoup the money you spent on it, but not the labor. It's worth rebuilding only if you want to keep the piano.
